VNX 5200 10Gb/s IO module transceiver question

Hello,

I have a VNX 5200 with the 10Gb/s optical IO modules (10GbE v3).  I went out and bought 10G optical cables for it that came with transceivers built in.  It seems that the VNX 5200 IO modules were not meant to have the transceivers removed.  Is that the case?  Are there specific cables that we need to purchase that are recommended from EMC?  I know there is a parts list document on support, but it only seems to discuss the module itself.

P.S. I posted this once already and it never seemed to show up.  My apologies if I'm double posting here...

Thanks,
Eric

The 10Gb IO Module can support two types of cabling - each requires a different SFP:

1. Optical cable - OM3 - the SFP is removable and a separate part number - we test and certify the SFP for compliance and compatibility that we sell.

2. TwinAX cabling - this uses copper cabling with an embedded SFP as part of the cable. EMC ONLY support the ACTIVE TwinAX cables. We test and certify the cables that we sell as we've seen numerous problems with 3rd party TwinAX cables.

Yes.  Glen is correct in that I am able to remove the transceivers (after a bit of fussing with the module) but the twinax cables we have are not compatible.  We are going to look at the Cisco and EMC hardware list to see what is compatible.

Thanks!
