Using VNX5400 block only array as NAS
Hi there:
Wanted to know what will be a good approach to use VNX 5400 Block only device as NAS also. Here is my take
Create two LUNS on VNX one to store/run VM's and the second one to use it as NAS.
To use the second LUN as NAS - I will have a VM running linux and configure iSCSI to access this LUN. Then mount this device and format it with a FS and then export that path.

Contact your regional DELL EMC account team and enquire about VNX5400 Block, to VNX5400 Unified (Block + File) hardware conversion.

I am aware of Unified system (but in our budget) - but was wondering if the above mentioned setup will work ..?

no reason why it wouldnt work.
A Linux VM is just another VM
dont know why you would use ISCSI though
you might as well use the vm datastore
