Rename existing File System on VNX
Hello,
I have gone through the below discussion;
Re: Rename File System on Celerra and implications of existing CIFS Shares
But just understood that;
1) Renaming FS does not affect anything
2) Mount point should also be renamed.
Now, w.r.t Mount point, how to achieve that exactly
-- We do not have any replication set up for existing FS
-- FS are set up on DM, and NOT VDM
-- File Shares exist on this FS
So how shall I rename mountpoint also. Taking downtime is fine for us.
Thanks

deleting a share will NOT delete the data
same as creating a new share will not change the data
at most you would need to re-apply the share level ACL if you had set one on the old share

permanently unmount the fs from the old mountpoint
delete the old mountpoint
create the new mountpoint
mount the fs on the new mountpoint
modify for re-create the shares to point to the new path

1) permanently unmount the fs from the old mountpoint
2) delete the old mountpoint
3) create the new mountpoint
4) mount the fs on the new mountpoint
5) modify for re-create the shares to point to the new path
Points 1 & 2 -- are same, delete the mount point - Understood
Point 3 -- Understood
Point 4 - Understood
After this stage when I look CIFS section, file shares does not show renamed File System. How to achieve this.
Thanks.

for 5)
using cli to recreate the new cifs shares, maybe scripting this or using a editor
deleting the old, obsolete shares
