Migrate CIFS and datastores

Hi Guys.

This is my first post in this forum.

I am working on a project to add storage and enable quote\journaling on existing EMC VNX 5300. Existing storage holds CIFS shares and LUNS mapped to ESXi servers. Plan is to add a new Disk Array Enclosure and then move all data to it (CIFS and datastores). Then enable journaling. Any pointers on how to move data off CIFS shares and datastores to new DAE.

CIFS Shares might be coming from Data Movers (NAS)?.

Once you add the new DAE, you can create new luns of same size & type, and you can do lun migration for both NAS Luns and ESXi luns.

what you mean by Journaling? Luns generally got nothing to do with Journal, but the client like linux has journal FS.

LUN migration - even when supported on NAS LUNs - are not going to help to move from data not in to treequotas on the "old" disks to data within treequotas on the "new" disks

same as Replicator which he has been asking on another thread
