Manage CIFS users after change interface

Hi, do you help me with my problem ...

I have CIFS with one eth. interface. That I went and added another (different IP address). Since then, does not manage users through the MMC.

When you add back the original, everything works.

VNX5500 - file, FW: 7.1.76-4, 05.32.000.5.215

Thank you for your advice.

Jirka.

Problem is resolved.

Problem was in NETBIOS name. If I send request to NEW interface, server return NETBIOS as OLD name = OLD interface. After change NETBIOS name, all is all right.

Thank you, Jirka.

No two, but change IP address.

On first I remove interface and add new, with different IP address.

Hello Jirka,

Please provide me more information about your request.

Do you want to modify the existing interface with the new IP Address (or)

Create a new Interface and assign an IP Address for that interface.

once you swapped the interfaces, did you make sure that it was properly updated in DNS ?

server_cifs server_2

make sure it says "Updated to DNS"

My steps ...

Create new interface

    server_ifconfig server_2 -create -Device trk0 -name eth-new-01 -protocol IP xx.xx.xx.xx 255.255.255.0 zz.zz.zz.zz

Add this interface to CIFS

    server_cifs dm-server-01 -add standalone=srv-server-01,workgroup=work,interface=eth-new-01

== Now is manage users through MMC all right. Through OLD interface no. This is OK.

Remove old interface

    server_cifs dm-server-01 -delete standalone=SRV-SERVER-01 interface=eth-old-01

== Now does not function manage users through NEW interface. Share is all right.

CIFS is standalone.

Both IP addresses I have on local hosts file.

Try to unmap share and destroy security context – then map again

Or just reboot the client you are running mmc from

Rainer_EMC:

I was try reboot and another machine, but with same error.

MMC error:

"Unable to access the computer \\srv-server-01. The error was: The

  binding handle is invalid."

But share is sucessfuly connectly. I have same login on client and CIFS.

There would be a downtime of couple of minutes.

Create a new Interface in the GUI.

Go to the CIFS Server on the VNX GUI uncheck the old interface.

Check the new Interface as the CIFS Server IP OK and confirm it.
