I want to remove some IO cards from SP s . How do I do it? What steps do I need to follow?
Hi all,
I want to remove some of the IO cards from SP A & SP B in a VNX5200 Block storage system which are no longer needed. How do I do it? What steps do I need to follow?
Thank you in advanced

Unfortunately, once modules are installed they become persisted and part of the Array's permanent system config. Then they can only be removed by doing a destructive re-initialize. (factory reset). This has been the same for a long time.
There are some cases where modules can be upgraded/swapped though, and you can use the mydocs website to create the instructions and of course you can engage support to check/clarify your options.

Yes, unfortunately a re-initialize clears all config and data, and you start again.

What did you exactly mean by "destructive re-initialize" ? Did you mean destroying array configuration like LUNs and Data resides on those LUNs ?
We can have a planned downtime for this task. What if, we power down the system and remove cards and power up the system again?
