Fault: Bus 1 Enclosure 0 : Missing
Hi all,
I have a VNX 5300 that I'm looking to resurrect for a lab environment. First I would like to upgrade the block firmware, however, after physically relocating the hardware to a different DC, I have a fault preventing me from doing the upgrade. The fault is:
Disk Array Enclosure (Bus 1 Enclosure 0) is faulted. Servers may have lost access to disk drives in this enclosure.
If I click onto that bus and generate a fault status report I get:
Bus 1 Enclosure 0 : Missing
Now, this is true because I only have one DAE connected to the DPE on bus 0. Since I only have the one DAE, how can I clear the fault for the bus that isn't in use?
I've tried connecting it to the other bus and restarting the system but I get the same error, only on bus 0 instead.
I'm a little raw with my storage terminology, so apologies if I haven't explained my problem clearly. This is a non-production unit without a maintenance agreement so contacting support isn't an option, unfortunately.
Thanks
Gary

I managed to get it working. I changed it back to bus 1 and powered off the DPE and DAE. Then turned on the DPE and waited for that to come online, then powered on the DAE and the faults were cleared.
Sorry for the false alarm.
