DRP test steps

Hi

We plan a "DRP" test to simulate the loss of one of our LUN on our main site.

just to confirm, we plan to do a

1. Administrative fracture

2. then promote the secondary image then add it to host group. (then on vmware discover (and mount, but not sure it's required) then add to inventory some virtual server  to check power on)

Then to rollaback (we do not want to synchronise change)

1.re established the mirror

2.add the actual Primary LUN as the secondary of the original mirror .. if i understand "If the secondary image state is synchronized or consistent when the promote is issued, but the link between them is not active, force promote does not place the original primary as a secondary of the new mirror. Instead, the original secondary is placed in a new mirror as a primary, but with no secondary image. The original primary remains in the original mirror, but there is no secondary image. The mirrors have the same name, but different mirror IDs. Both primaries remain available for host access, and when the link is back up, secondary images can be added to one or both images. "

thanks for your help

There's a pretty good White Paper for Mirroview called "The Mirrorview Knowledgebook that goes into some detail about testing failover/failback situations.
