Doing firmware updates while still online
How many people do firmware updates for both disk and controllers while there VNXe is still processing disk requests from a production enviroment?

as long as the cpu utilization isn't too high, I'm doing upgrades. Besides: USM (for VNX1 & 2) checks to see if cpu util is too high or not. It is supposed to be an online upgrade and I treat is as such.

We don't have VNXe, but we have VNX1 & VNX2 in our environment (and have had everything back to CLARiiON FC-4700s). We have almost always done our upgrades online while the array is still processing. The only exceptions were very specific upgrades for issues that EMC recommended would be safer to fix with an offline upgrade. I think this may have only happened twice in the many years I've been using this line of arrays.
