Disaster Recovery Testing for File Data on VNX8000
Hi
We have set up some Production filesystems and gone through setting up the DM Interconnects, etc in order to replicate them to our DR site and this is working OK.
Does anyone have the procedures to test this data from the DR site? The only docs I can find describe doing a failover to the DR site but I don't want to touch the Production site at all, essentially I just want to be able to mount the DR copy of the filesystems to some clients on the DR site.
Any Help Appreciated
Michael

It is possible with quite some effort - depending on your environment.
check the forum in the VNX and Celerra areas - this topic has been discussed a number of times over the last years
Usually it requires setting up new test VDMs or using writeable checkpoints
For a true DR test you would need to be able to split off the DR site so that you can use the same IP and CIFS server names twice - but that require also splitting off Active Directory, DNS, ...
So most customers settle for testing DR access - making the replicated data available under different server names and IP's
If all you want to do is to see (readonly) if the data is all there and intact the simplest way is to create a DM global CIFS server on the dst VNX and access via C$ share
