Direct Attached without switches

Hi

Is it direct attached without network switches not supported yet in VNXe?

If it's supported, ¿since which firmware version?

Thanks in advance

Hello Jomerbo,

VNXe **don't** support direct host attach configuration yet. However,Direct host-attach configurations are supported on VNXe3200 only for FC and iSCSI.

Hello Team,

VNXe 3100, 3150 and 3300 doesnt support direct attach storage as the high availability feature doesnt work if you have the host directly attached to the VNXe.

Thanks VNxe

ok, only in VNXe3200 is supported. And is there some document or diagram which explains how to connect VNXe3200 to hosts for iSCSI without switches?

Hello Jonmerbo,

Please check the below document which has the information about the FC Direct attached storage support.

https://support.emc.com/docu53350_Global-Services-Product-Support-Bulletin-EMC-VNXe3200.pdf?language=en_US

It is mentioned in the page 13. If in case you dont have an support.emc.com account provide your email I would be happy

to send you an email.

https://support.emc.com/docu52703_Using-a-VNXe3200-System-with-Fibre-Channel-(FC)-or-iSCSI-LUNs.pdf?language=en_US

Please check the page 10 and it informs that Directly attached is supported only  if the host connects to

both SPs and has the required multipath software.

Directly attaching a host to a VNXe3200 system is supported if the host connects to both SPs and has the required multipath software.

Please check the "Using a VNXe System with Fibre Channel (FC) or iSCSI LUNs" document on support site for further information.

The aforementioned document is for VNXe 3200.

New VNXe3200 will support direct host attach. New VNXe3200 looks like a “Baby VNX”
