Convert VNX5300 Unified to Block Only.

I don't believe there is a procedure to do this. You can disconnect all the file stuff (DM and Control Stations), but you'd still need to change the cabling for the front-end ports and deal with the internal Control LUNs that are preconfigured. The Flare code on the block side would still need to be changed somehow, which is why I don't think this is a supported operation. You can try talking with your local EMC account team.

I agree with Glen, that is isn't an easy task as stated. I will mention however, that you can get a used block 5300 *very* inexpensively. In a similar situation a while back I traded a unified 5700 head unit for a block 5500 head unit, and re-used the DAEs and disks from the 5700.

There are a number of options for keeping maintenance/support on the resulting array.

Does the array have a support contract ?
