Cannot remove active hot spare LUN and RG
Hi everyone. My co-worker and I run a small msp, and a friend asked our help wiping a VNX 5300 and all its drives. We don't have much experience with them, but we started doing a lot of reading online and on this sub.
We are having an issue removing a couple drives from a active hot spare raid, we got a few drives wiping from the CLI but the rest we cannot unbound from a private LUN because they are being used in hot spare. There are other drives in it as well that say Enabled and are not part of a LUN or RG, but we cannot get those to wipe either.
I spent a few hours yesterday googling, and nothing I have found helps. Does anyone on here know how to wipe the rest of these drives?

On the VNX any "unused" drive can be a Hot Spare. Do you still have any Raid Groups or Pools configured? If so, then try deleting all the LUNs in the Pool/RG first. Then you need to destroy the Pool/RG. That should free up all the disks.
