VADP Backups not working with vSphere 5
Good day to you all
We recently upgraded to vSphere5, which meant that our VCB backups no longer worked.
I have now ALMOST got VADP backups to work - I can SEE the finish line! - but I'm falling at the last hurdle.
The snapshot is creating on the VADP proxy, and there's then a message saying "Downloading VM configuration for VADP.com" (where VADP.com is the name of the proxy)
We then get a message saying:
83065:nsrvadp_save: The following internal error occurred: Unable to download the config file: "VADP\VADP.vmx" HTTP response code 401
and then a URL
I'm surprised to see Internet Explorer style errors ("401") and if I put:
into IE then I get an error saying document cannot be displayed.
I have a feeling this is to do with SSL certificates and have made sure that the certificate is installed (name "vmware") but fear there is something else I'm missing.
I'm using IE6 (I know - in 2012!)
Any help to push me over the finishing line would be HUGELY appreciated.
Thanks very much
Tony

Hi,
Response code 401 is an authentication problem, so you should look at the permissions of your user. Have a look at the NetWorker VMWare Integration Guide page 52 for details on the user role and for the list of necessary permissions.

Thank you Bobby - you got me thinking straight there!
We have gone from VCB to VADP and the permissions required arent exactly the same. Close, but not quite enough.
I've now hit a problem where Networker doesn't think I have enough Client license for the VADP backups although VCBs worked fine.
We'll see what EMC say.
Thanks again.
