SE License information within Solutions Enabler 7.5 vApp

Greetings everyone:

I'm just getting started and ran into what I hope is a simple question.  I've gone through and have been setting up my vApp for Solutions Enabler.  During the process, I get to a portion where it asks for an "SE License" (Under License Validation tab).  I'm new to the whole storage environment here, but where do I get this license?  If I do the same thing with just an SUSE Linux VM, would I get the same thing?

Sorry for the newb question!

SIdebar:

  • Do I need the SE License to just get information from the SMI-S provider?  (Currently, I'm not looking to write any changes until I get more comfortable)
  • If I move up to 7.6, do I still get prompted for this license file?

And if this is the first vApp that I'm setting up?  (Sorry if I'm being unclear, like I said, I'm new to the Solutions Enabler Virtual Appliance)

Hey KMSigma, welcome to EMC Community!

Is this Solutions Enabler VAPP the first ever management server in your environment which is hooked up to the Symm? If not, there are good chances that you already have the required licenses sitting on the array. You can click "View License Usage" under the eLicensing in the "License Validation" tab to check if its already applied.

You can always go to

https://support.emc.com/servicecenter/licensing_landing.htm if you wish to get license.

For SMI, as long as your VAPP is seeing the array, it should be able to show you basic info.
Hope it helps!

Regards,

Roshan Raju.

Then you would have to first get the license from our licensing team and apply it onto the array. You can do it via the same tab from the VAPP.
