Can a VM mount the iso from NFS datastore to DVD?

Hi all,

I recently created a NFS datastore, it works fine with my ESXi5 host to upload files, create virtual LUN for VM. However, I can't mount the iso files stored on NFS datastore. When I click select iso from datastore, I can't even see the NFS datastore. Is this function only work on VMFS datastore?

When mounting the NFS Export in vSphere Client, try again but with the "Mount NFS as Read-Only" option checked.  As mentioned in Scott Lowe's Mastering VMware vSphere 5:

"If the NFS datastore should be read-only, then select Mount NFS Read Only

You might need to mount a read-only NFS datastore if the datastore contains only ISO images, for example."

I have found the issue . I only added NFS storage on one host of cluster yesterday, on another host, I did storage rescan  operation. This morning I found NFS datstore is not found by the second host.  Adding NFS on second host solved the problem. My guess is NFS datastore is not like SAN datastore, it has to be added on every host in the cluster manually. Now I have a central place to store all my iso files.

Ahhh... that makes sense.  Or of course provision from the cluster/data center/folder object in the vSphere Client inventory using the VSI Unified Storage Manager plug-in.

Heh, yeah didn't make sense after posting it to mount the NFS datastore as Read-Only.  Misinterpreted the comments in the book as it was meant only as an example of a Read-Only candidate.
