Why is VMAX All Flash reclaim tdevs process so slow?
We all know that in VMAX the unbind process takes some time but you can monitor with a symcfg command and after that you can delete devs. In VMAX All Flash you have to run the "Free All" process and then delete the devs. Unfortunately even when the Free All process has completed, the status of the devs is still F (for Freeing) instead of B (Bound) and you still can't delete the devs, for me it is kind of frustrating not know for how long will it take to change the status so I can delete the devs. I asked and EMC said it is the "normal" process, which makes me wonder why All Flash is not that when talking about reclaim. Does anyone have the same feeling?

Surprised no one has answered this one yet. It's a "well-known issue" on the VMAX3 all-flash platform. It is supposed to be addressed in HYPERMAX OS 5977.1125.1125 as it includes Fix 92285 - Enhancement of the TDEV full device user de-allocation execution time (command "symdev free -all").
