what is the reason that local snap/clone operations has to performed in BCV devices ?
Is there any particular reason why time finder operations like snap, mirror etc are utilizing the BCV devices? Why not a tdev? i know that we can convert tdev to BCV ; but why not other devices? Is it because of the product specifics or a vendor based recommendation?

The original Timefinder technology was Mirror and it required target devices with the BCV attribute. Since then (Snap, Clone, SnvpVX), there is no BCV attribute requirement. The BCV attribute is still around though. Backwards capability is one reason.
