FA Port Flag settings Vmax 20K

Are there still any limitations on FA ports for different OS for Enguinity 5876. Please clarify for the following hosts.

1. V bit enabled for HP-UX

2. D bit enabled for Linux( is it same for RHEL and SUSE)

3. For Solaris should OS2007 disabled?

Even in VMAX at 5876, there are still FA director bit settings that need to match up for a particular OS.

1. V bit enabled for HP-UX -> Yes for all revs of HP-UX 11i

2. D bit enabled for Linux( is it same for RHEL and SUSE) -> Yes

3. For Solaris should OS2007 disabled? No, it should be enabled.

This information is available via our eLab Navigator tool.  You can use the following link to peruse it:

If you're familiar with the page/tool, but have not visited it recently, there have been some major changes to the page.  The VMAX director bit settings now has it's own link at the top, but I've provided here.  Has nice easy to read charts.

But the pdf shows that it should be disabled ( lower case?)

Sorry about that, you're correct. Did not notice it was lower case.

So, after taking a closer look at the file, if you pay attention to the 1st column, you get the default settings, upper case for ON, lower case for OFF.  To the right of that, you have the individual OS columns.

  • If an OS column has no marking, it means it should follow the default setting.
  • If an OS column has an (opt.) marking, it means there are application dependencies that might require or not require that bit setting.
  • If an OS column has another marking (such a V or v), this means this OS requires the opposite of the default settings.

Also, just as an FYI, if the particular OS requires the opposite of a default setting for a particular bit setting, this does not mean you can't mix OSs on that FA port; you can still use host override settings at the Initiator Group (IG) level.

Regards,

Chris
