Virus
I have an Inspiron 15 3000. I recently was cut off from everything: WiFi, flight mode on all the time, password and code login changed and many many other things. Managed to guess password but all efforts to recover etc failed.I disconnected and reconnected hard drive all now seem ok. Virus scan negative. Had virus been removed please.

Hi Wittonian, and welcome to the forum.
First of all, what operating system and version are you using? Win 7, Win10? Typing Winver in the lower left search pane will give you the OS and version info.
Second, what anti-virus are you using?
Third, I'm not aware of any virus that can be removed by disconnecting/reconnecting a hard drive. Since the Inspiron 15 3000 is a laptop, I'm assuming you are referring to an external hard drive.
Finally, if you want a "second opinion" to confirm your negative AV scan, I can strongly recommend you download the free on-demand malware scanner/remover Malwarebytes Anti-Malware from here:
https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/malwarebytes-anti-malware/
It is only an on-demand scanner, does not run in real-time, and will not conflict with your AV.

It may be that the 250gb HDD hard drive is failing.
I want to replace it with an SSD drive. Can I use a larger SSD drive please.
Thanks
