Update 3/21/22 - Pale Moon

PaleMoon v30.0.1 (2022-03-20)

This is a critical bugfix release.

  • Fixed an issue with browser initialization that would leave some components (like password managing) incorrectly initialized if the (obsolete) preference privacy.donottrackheader.enabled was set.
  • Fixed an issue in XML transformation that could cause crashes, performance issues and general stability problems.

Well this is getting messy:

While 30.0.1 is available via the internal updater (from 30.0), if you go to the PM site for full downloads, it has "regressed" to 29.4.4

This is due to all the infighting that has recently occurred at PaleMoon.

The advice:   If 30.0.1 seems to be working okay for you, then it should be okay to keep it (with the expectation that 30.1 will be released "eventually".   But if 30.0.1 is malfunctioning, then it might be prudent to "downgrade" to 29.4.4, which was the last version before the Major upgrade / infighting. 

[ Just have to hope the profile database doesn't get corrupted upon the downgrade...]

As Palemoon is currently my "tertiary" browser... behind 1) Edge and 2) Firefox ... I will leave 30.0.1 alone for now, and just not use it much.

The v30 milestone has been recalled while we do damage control.

As a follow-up, and since a number of software portals are still offering the recalled v30 milestone for download, please consider going to 29.4.5.1 by downloading it from the main website and re-installing any add-ons from the add-ons site to replace incompatible -fxguid extensions that may have been installed. There should be little to no problem downgrading from 30.0.0 or 30.0.1 to 29.4.* in terms of profile compatibility this time around, although we generally recommend restoring from a backup when going back to an earlier version.

Important note about v30.0.0 and v30.0.1

The milestone release version has been recalled. If you are running v30.0.* of Pale Moon Please downgrade to 29.* as soon as possible. If you have any extensions installed that have been converted to an -fxguid version you will have to re-install them from our add-ons site with a compatible version.

folks, do NOT use Palemoon 30.0x anymore as further development of that has been abandoned.
