Norton adds cryto-miner

Norton Crypto is a new feature available in Norton 360 which you can use to mine cryptocurrency when your PC is idle.  Norton Crypto is supposedly limited to users with devices meeting the necessary system requirements. And Norton skims 15% off the top of any crypto found using your PC.

The program is “opt-in" so customers have to agree to enable it, but many Norton users say the mining program is difficult to remove. 

This issue is getting attention and a backlash from both Norton customers and the media. The co-editor of Boing Boing, Cory Doctorow, used some colorful, "adult-only" words to describe this situation...

Lets hope other big high tech companies don't get any similar stooopid! ideas.
