McAfee auto-renew question

Recently bought a new laptop that came with mcafee.  Since I already have a multi-device McAfee subscription, I was not planning on using the subscription that came on the laptop (I got the auto-renew at purchase time because it was cheaper).

Uninstalled version that was on the laptop when it arrived and reinstalled with my existing subscription.  Went to Dell page to turn off auto-renew, but it will not let me because it says my new McAfee has not been activated.

How can I remove this (and the auto-renew) to make sure I am not charged for the new McAfee that I am not using?
