Malwarebytes is not auto updating

I have a paid full version of the program. It is in my startup. I have it set to do a daily scan and that works OK.

However, it NEVER updates - either the program or the Database Version. I have to manually "update" in order to get the latest data. I have it set to "Download and install update if available" and the Scheduler Updater is set to "hourly".

I sent an e-mail to their Tech Support early Monday morning and so far no response from them.

FIXED, thanks to a user on the Windows 7 Forum.

In the Scheduler The Update was set for hourly, repeating every 1 hour. But it had never been added to the Task List. No where in the Help file or on the Scheduler page does it say anything about having to manually add it to the task list (or anything in the very limited Help File about the Task List period).

fireberd:

It appears you are not alone. Watch this topic:

Thanks, Joe.  Mine is one of those that has "never" worked, either with Vista 32 bit or now with Win 7 64 bit.

Thank you, Hernan. :emotion-21:

The screenshots and link help when we are trying to explain that to others. :emotion-1:

Good info, fireberd (and Hernan)!

I don't load MBAM (paid) at startup, because of conflicts with my other security programs at start-up, and have generally used it as an on-demand scanner only, after a manual update.

After your post, I discovered that even when I activated MBAM's real-time protection, and configured auto-updates as you had, it was not auto-updating for the same reason you specified. Your solution for Vista and Win7 also applies to XP/SP3.

Thanks for posting back the resolution.

Joe, as a highly rated program, it is not a very well designed application (to use the old buzz words "not user friendly) or there would have been some type of pop up, flag or whatever to tell the user what had to be done to enable the automatic updates, or even better when that function was set it should automatically place it in the tasks.  The Help File is useless.

They cannot make improvements unless they know how you feel. It might be helpful if you post your comment here:

I agree with fireberd here, and have sent my feedback to MBAM's forum

Considering I and many others have sent their tech support a query about the problem and the forum threads about it, they should get the hint, or better yet as I mentioned it should have never been an issue to start with.  One of my jobs, in my computer career, was a programmer at NASA on the manned space program and that would have never got through program checkout and validation.

Just as a follow-up, there is a tutorial at MBAM's site on how to use the scheduler:

http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=45177

Why it is not included in the Help File, where it belongs, I wouldn't know.

Could be just me, but if I need help with Malwarebytes, I think I would go get help from them on their own forum, they have plenty of FAQ's and plenty of people helping on their forum and your issue could have been resolved quite quickly.

Forums are located here: http://forums.malwarebytes.org

For instructions on using the scheduler: http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=45177

For Common Issues, Questions, and their Solutions: http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=10138

Those are Pinned Topics in the General Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Forum found here: http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showforum=41

FireFoxTheBomb,

you're absolutely right, for most  people wanting help with MBAM, they should consult the MBAM forum.

however, the particular people who have participated in this thread are all regulars here... who consider this their "home base" (or at least one of the "homes")... and were just trying to  take advantage of our local ("in-house", "family") knowledge-base
