(Help) My windows defender scan schedule task is missing from the task scheduler.

The antimalware executable was using large amounts of my disk on task manager slowing down my pc so I searched online as to how to fix the issue, I came across this discussion.

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/protect/forum/protect_other-protect_start-windows_10/antimalware-service-executable-very-high-disk/84168369-39ca-44df-9c5a-4c054735abcd

It requires you to change the properties of the windows defender scan scheduler in the task scheduler however it was missing from the task scheduler.

all the other tasks are there like the Windows defender Cache Maintenance, Clean-up and Verification.

@MichaelReidOnline  Always include exact PC model in your posts.

Did you look in the Windows Defender folder in the Win 10 Task Scheduler?

You could try to create that task and run it manually. This is what it looks like on my Dell PC running Win 10 20H2 (click to enlarge this image) which may help you create the task:

After you create it and set it's properties, as in that other thread, I'd suggest you highlight in on the list of tasks in that folder and click Run to launch it manually, and just let it run to make sure you don't have any malware lurking...
