Health/fitness info leaked

A database belonging to GetHealth containing 61 million records was left unsecured. As part of its worldwide services, it stores information from fitness wearables, medical devices, and apps.

The info came from devices/apps including:

  • Fitbit
  • GoogleFit
  • MapMyFitness
  • Microsoft
  • Sony Lifelog
  • Strava
  • Apple HealthKit
  • Android Sensor
  • S Health
  • Etc.

Leaked info includes:

  • GetHealth ID
  • First and last name
  • Display names
  • Gender
  • Birthday
  • Time zone
  • Location
  • Device being used
  • Etc.

The database has been secured, but the leaked info could be used in targeted phishing attacks to obtain additional personal or health information. Not clear what/anything you can do now if you were affected by this breach, aside from being even more careful about unexpected/suspicious requests for personal info...
