Edge Chromium Browser Update Problems and Fixes

Ever since Microsoft force updated my Edge Classic browser to the chromium version a few months ago on a couple of my Win 10 systems, I noticed a considerable slowing of that browser. On a Win 10 system that I had blocked that update, I saw no such slowdowns. With a google search I see that I was not alone. It turns out one cannot uninstall Edge Browser updates in the usual way using Control Panel, but a way to uninstall these updates and block further automatic forced installs has been found and promoted at Bleeping Computer:

https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/microsoft/how-to-uninstall-microsoft-edge-forced-installed-via-windows-update/

You will need to be comfortable with registry edits, but the instructions are fairly plain. I was able to remove the Edge Chromium on all my Win 10 systems, and make the registry changes to block subsequent attempts to automatically re-install it. (Time will tell).

Of course, if you are happy with the latest Edge updates, no need to fix what ain't broke. As always, YMMV.

Joe,

Sorry to hear you're having problems with EDGE Chromium.   Mine is working just fine... so good, in fact, that it is my primary browser on my Win10 laptop (and Win8.1 tablet).   [On XP, which can't handle EDGE, I'm using MyPal].
