Diagnostics Partition Virus

I am having a problem with my Dell Latitude D820.
I have Windows XP SP2 installed on it and I am running it on the network at my workplace.
I installed all of the AV software with the latest updates. I have all of the Windows updates and have used Malware/Spyware removal software but I keep getting the lsass.exe virus problem after pressing ctrl - alt - del when logging in.
I reloaded Windows and everything was up to date and after a couple of reboots it has appeared again.
I have come to the conclusion that the virus is residing on the small DELL Diagnostics Partition.
Can anyone shed any light on this topic.
Thank -You.

A simple test would be to delete the diagnostic partition, and see if the problem persists.  The loss of the diagnostics is not a catastrophe, since they can be run from a floppy, assuming you have a boot floppy drive.  There is also should be a way to run the from any other bootable device.

I have since deleted the partition and it seems to be working perfectly fine. This is something DELL maybe need to look into? Just a suggestion.
The only problem we are having now is that when shutting down we get error Mcsheild.exe (Mcafee AV) is generating errors. we have reinstalled  the program and put the latest updates on but every now and then it still gives an error, only when shutting down.
