Event Tracking and History
Hi All,
What I am trying to do is find out the where abouts of a virtual machine created in our environment. A vm was created last week but cloned from an existing template. The issue is, under Infrastructure History I can find the clones, but there appears to be no way of searching for a virtual machine renaming task. So I see the VM as being cloned, which is the name of the original template, then I lose sight of it. We have a larger environment of over 750 VM's with three vCenter administrators, so sometimes things like this happen.
Is this an oversight or am I missing something fundemental? I do not see anything related to VM renaming in the Risk Definitions screen, so dont know how to track it down any further. Also, it would be nice (if possible) for someone to be able to double click a VM Creation event in the Infrastructure History and be taken directly to that VM in its current state, like is possible in the peformance monitoring screens. Maybe that's not possible. It sure would help in tracing the history of a VM from creation to its current state, including technicians involved as well as VM events like CPU, Memory or Hard drive space modifications.
Thanks
