Little Help : Software Request
I was wondering if someone would be kind enough to supply me with the free software for the Equallogic PS5000 I have acquired.
I am not able to get a support account and get firmware and software because I didn't 'buy' the device.
I am in need of
EqualLogic Multipathing Extension Module
| Host Integration Tools for Microsoft® |
PS Series Array Software
and anything else that is useful/
necessary
I thank in advance
Kind Thanks
Ben

Since the PS5000 is EOL (End of Life) you can no longer get a support contract, so you will not be able to download the "free" software and utilities that come with the paid contract.
However, you can still setup MPIO manually on the windows server using the native Microsoft iSCSI initiator and MPIO feature (you would need to install the iSCSI initiator and MPIO from Program and Features if you haven't done this yet).
On the array, you need to setup the ACL on each volume that the server that will need to connect to in the Group Manager>volume> access tab. For MPIO use the initiator name (.iqn name) or chap (these are the easiest to manager, instead of listing each iSCSI interface IP address).
On the host iSCSI initiator, simple connect to the volume specifying MPIO and creating a new connection for each interface (advanced section of MPIO), then specify the MPIO policy.
On Microsoft's support site is the Microsoft iSCSI initiator guide and MPIO guides that explain this in greater detail.

Hi Joe
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.
Thanks also for the work-around although the features from the downloadable software offer a greater array (pardon the pun!!) of features and integration with VMware which is what I am really after. I will look at using you methodology for now.
However if anyone can help me out by downloading the software if they have a support account you would make a geek very happy :)
All the best
Ben
