vipr1 /opt/storageos/conf gets overwritten

Hi

Trying to debug some vipr connectivity issues, I was trying to modify the security-common.xml file in /opt/storageos/conf.

At every reboot this file is overwritten and my changes lost.

Any way to make it reboot proof? or at least to restart the vipr services without rebooting?

Thanks

Hi!

There is no way to make it reboot proof - at every reboot all changes you make to /opt/storageos will get wiped out and reset.

There is a way to restart ViPR services without reboot - you can find instructions in the "backup - restore" document at ViPR 2.1 - EMC ViPR native backup and restore service.

Use "#># service storageos start/stop" commands.

After you start the services, you should be able to connect to ViPR's VIP, but it will be a few more minutes before you actually get a logon screen. During the delay, you will be seeing a reconnect page, that will be pinging ViPR portal every 30 seconds for you automatically.

In the meantime, you could be monitoring ViPR dbsvc.log file to see if it came up OK.

Hope that helps.
