ViPR 2.0 (1+0) discovery of VNX For File Simulator
Hi All,
I was trying to explore the capabilities of ViPR platform in our lab. but We don't have an actual VNX hardware. I have found VNX For File Silualtor available from the EMC product downloads. I was under an impression ViPR 2.0 would be able disover all the aspects of it and I would be able to provision a NFS Share onto the Simulator. But ViPR was complaining , there are not Storage Ports connected..
My question is.. is it possible to get any catalogue items work on a Simulator ?
many thanks in advance.
regards,
Adi.

Hi Javier,
The Storage Ports are not discovered by ViPR. It could discover only the
Storage Pools available on the Simulator.
Here is a screenshot from Simulator
And on ViPR
I am not sure if there is anything yet to configure on the Simulator to
enable the Storage Ports to be discovered.
Many thanks
Regards
Adi.

Hi Adik,
You should be able to create and export NFS filesystems with a VNX File simulator.
When you discovered your VNX file, did any storage port show up as part after the discovery process?
If yes, you would need to add that storage port to your IP network on your virtual array, so it can communicate with any hosts you have there.
Let us know

As part of the VNX File setup, you should configure the physical network interface ports. These will be the "storage ports" for ViPR.
