SRM expansion

Hello Everyone,

Currently we are running a Binary Install of ViPR SRM 4.0. (upgraded from 3.7.1) Entire environment is running on the default EMC recommendation. And Memory utilization on each collector is over 65%. Future goal is to add more devices to the monitoring. There is never an issue with storage capacity on this hosts. Only major concern is the memory and CPU and how much to expand with.

Entire environment is comprised of:

1 Frontend

1 Primary Backend

3 Additional Backends

25 Collectors

All are running 4vCPUs and FE,BEs are running 24gb memory and collectors are at 16gb memory.

All this collects over 250+ Devices combined (Arrays and Switchs) for monitoring and reporting.

Any recommendation or suggestions will be helpful

Hi pfaldu,

There is a ViPR SRM Workbench Tool which may be of assistance to you for review of your future scaling. This is an internal tool and more information may be found at:

https://community.emc.com/message/952509#952509

This tool will allow us the provided information via the available template for SolutionPack, Count and Growth Factor%.

You would also need to address how many metrics are currently existing in the APG databases as you may need to install more Additional Backends to assist with handling the increased metric load for new objects that you are planning to be adding for discovery.

Wanda,

Apparently I am not able to access the Workbench page from the link you

provided.

Thank you,

Are you attempting to launch the URL from an internal Dell EMC network? This host may not be accessible from external locations. We can also send the Import Template if that would be helpful for you to review. Please provide an internal (or external) email address and I will send the information. Thank you.
