SRM 2.x vs ECC for Provisioning
Hi, EMC Gurus,
Question, the succession as I understand is ECC -> SRM 2.x/ProSphere -> ViPR 3.x
And SRM 1.x being the ProSphere product. The question I have is ECC was able to perform the provisioning storage for both the VM and the Non VM hosts. With the SRM 2.x, I couldnt find anywhere it says that it could do the storage provisioning for standalone servers. (Might not necessarily be end-to-end provisioning, at least the storage + fabric).
Thanks in adv,
Max

Hi Max
ProSphere is a reporting software though, it did provide the functionality of launching Unisphere in order to do provisioning.
SRM 3.x is a reporting software. In order to provision software, you would need another product, such as Unisphere, Solutions Enabler or a product native to your storage device.
Thanks

Thanks Tim for the response. My understanding is ViPR SRM 3.x is part of the ViPR suite and it does the monitoring, reporting etc. However I thought the ViPR Suite has a component which does the provisioning as well as orchestration.

There is the VIPR Controller product that allows for automated Storage Provisioning.
