I guess ViPR SRM can't intergrate with 3rd party array without SP?
I read some document said, ViPR SRM is a open-mind management suite can support 3rd party via SNMP and SMI-S.
My array doesn't have specify SolutionPack, so I am trying to inregated with SNMP.
I created device from "device-discovery", set the SNMP information. and complete all action like "Capability Discovery" and "Distrubution",all dashboard is green, but you can't see any information through front-end even "Explore" is displaying , all empty.
then I uploaded and reloaded the MIBs for my array. Createed the Polling Groups, Masks and Agents. Back to MIB browser, walk the MIB and create the node, then Masks has some values in Metrics and Values. Save them all and after that I synchronization.
Then I open the SNMP Device Discovery, for "Capability Discoverers", I found my MIB didn't has the action file. So I followed other action files to write mine. Then upload it. the "Discovery Aciton" can see mine now.
After that I went to Collectors, click the Edit the current Connectors.. under "Capabilities Load Factor" , I can't find my action item just uploaded. I open the default Masks on this screen, it shows my mask just created at "SNMP connector" is NOT exist at default masks.
I am crazy about it. So I exported the SNMP mask and translation from "SNMP Connector- Masks", import them at "Device-discovery- Connectors-Manage Default Masks" , it can show in the Mask List BUT it is still NOT at "Capabilities Load Factors".
Without this step , the Connector can't support my array capability from MIBs.
I just try Bracade switch, same step. If didn't install the SolutionPack for Brocade, same screen like my array. If you install it, you can see the "Explore" at Front end, and some information showing.
And for SMI-S, I didn't even found the form I can fill. I only see some configuation at SP.
Anyone can tell me anything wrong if I want integrate my array without SP? Thanks.

Hi JohnnyHH,
ViPR SRM requires two pieces in order to integrate reporting for products that there is no SolutionPack for...
1.) Create custom collection service (which is pretty much what you already did with SNMP Devices, MIBs, Masks, etc. I'm not positive whether you did everything necessary to populate the database, as it's hard to tell from your post, so this part may or may not need more work.
2.) Create custom reports. When the collector was not part of a SolutionPack, then there will not be an associated reports in the FrontEnd for that data. So you will need to create custom reports for that data.
A SolutionPack is a package that includes both the collector configuration files AND corresponding canned reports. You can create your own custom reports for ANY data that is in the database, whether a SolutionPack exists/is installed, or not, but SolutionPacks provide a set of reports that EMC has created based on what customers have asked for.
hopefully that helps.. We (EMC) have a custom reporting service as well that can help if you have a specific product you need to get into SRM...
What is the SMI-S and SNMP device you are trying to report on?

RIchard,
Has the custom reporting service done anything with Pure Storage arrays?
This is an array that I need to integrate with SRM.
Thanks,
Stephen Watts

Hi Rich,
Thanks for your detailed response. I am trying to create customer report. But for my previous experience, it seems hard/
Do you have any document about the step to integrate with array without SP?
And Also , could you please know the reason why Capabilities Load Factors no my material which I uploaded?
Thanks.
