VPLEX GeoSynchrony NDU Process
Dear Dell Support Team,
We are preparing for a Non-Disruptive Upgrade (NDU) of our VPLEX Metro environment and require official clarification on a specific aspect of the automated procedure.
Environment Summary:
- Product: Dell VPLEX Metro
 - Current Version: GeoSynchrony 6.2.0
 - Target Version: GeoSynchrony 6.2.1.1
 - Configuration: Dual-site Metro, with one cluster per site.

Background: We are planning the maintenance window and resource allocation for the NDU. Our primary question pertains to the level of automation when the upgrade script transitions from the first cluster to the second cluster.
Specific Question: Our question pertains to the behavior of the ndu start script in a Metro configuration. After the script completes the upgrade of the first cluster (e.g., cluster-1), does the NDU process automatically proceed to upgrade the second cluster (cluster-2), or does it pause and wait for an explicit confirmation from the operator before starting the upgrade on the second cluster?
Our Interpretation: We have reviewed the official NDU procedure document (Dell EMC VPLEX GeoSynchrony 6.2 Service Pack 1 Patch 1, NDU Procedure 6.2.1.1, Rev. A01). Our interpretation is that the entire Metro upgrade is a single, continuous, and automated process without any manual confirmation prompts between the two clusters. The only confirmation prompts seem related to the --io-fwd-ask-for-confirmation flag, which applies to host initiator login status during a director upgrade within a cluster, not the inter-cluster sequence.

Hi,
Thanks for your question.
I don’t see anything about it pausing during the upgrade for confirmation.
Let us know if you have any additional questions.
