UnityVSA pool shows offline
Hello everyone
I have UnityVSA-5.1.0.0.5.394 running on my lab
I have created 7 vmdks:
one 32GB on an NVME2 disk and put it on "Extreme Performance Tier"
three 100GB on RAID_1 SSD disks and put it on "Performance Tier"
three 256GB on an external USB_HDD disk and put it on "Capacity Tier"
with all disks I created a 1TB Pool then added 2 LUNs, the first 100GB Thick and the second is 900GB Thin.
up to here everything runs smoothly and as desired.
When I put the two LUNs into heavy writing load, the SPA reboots and I end up with both LUNs fails along with their Pool and the Pool goes offline !!!!!!!!!!!!
Can someone give me a clue what is the problem ?????

It should create a new UUID when it is reinstalled and will need a new key, if you have any snapshots from before this happened you may be able to roll back without getting a new license. Try re-initialize first and if that doesn't work you may have to delete and create a new VM.

Hello binseror,
When the pool goes offline do you get any error message? Are all vmdk’s and luns configured on SPA? When spa reboots is there any error message other then controller has rebooted?

Hi Sam
Thanks for the response
There are no error messages coming prior to the reboot
All vmdk's and LUNs are perfectly configured on the SPA
All virtual disks are on green state and show no problems
The message was as shown below
Best regards ;;;;;;;

Hello binseror,
You are going to need to open a support case for this as we will need to pull logs and escalate the case. Here is a link to an kb article 000022736 that you can reference when opening a support case. https://dell.to/3LRXWHo

No, it needs to be a professional license. What hardware are you running the appliance on? Maybe it is something that that level that is causing it to go offline.

"What hardware are you running the appliance on?"
On my personal PC
CPU: i9-12900K (24vcpu), 64GB DDR5, 256G NVMe2 system disk, VMware® Workstation 16 Pro.
Thanks,

Hello binseror,
Your system specs are within the limits and should work. The Error Code 14:600e7 is an error with a Lun that is marked for recovery. What we would do if you were using VSA professional edition is that we would need to gather logs and escalate the case. Since you are using VSA community edition what I would try and do is to destroy the luns, and then try to recreate them a little smaller size to see if you are getting the same error.

Hi Sam
Once again thank U for your efforts on solving this matter.
I've tried my best to delete the LUNs before I opened this post, all ended with the message "Failed: The storage resource cannot be deleted because associated storage pool is offline. (Error Code:0x6701551)"
One last question cause it seems I'm been driven to start all over from the beginning, does the license I obtained for my recent VSA works if I delete this VM and start all over again ?????
Do U advise me to delete it OR to reinitialize it ?
Regards ;;;;;

Dear Sam
Thanks a lot!
I've re-initialized the VM and the problem came back again !!!!
After deep investigations I found that I was connecting the external USB-DISK to an external USB-HUB !!!, and when I connected it directly to the MB it worked like a charm !
Thank U once again
