Dear Josh

The health check has failed. A problem has been detected with a backend disk processor enclosure. Ensure that the backend cabling is correct. Error code: platform::check_for_enclosure_faults_2.

I have two EMC300 Unity systems BOTH have the same problem , one has been working for 7 years and the other only six months ON.

Unity OS 4.5.1.0.5.001

This is a bug in this version as two complete systems have the same error. So both cannot be upgraded to version 5.2.2..

This seems related to VNXe3200 equipment the error , why is this?

Regards

Gregory

Hi,

Thanks for your question. If you login into Unisphere and go to the service tab it should tell you what the errors it is getting are, but you will have to resolve the issues before you can do the upgrade. Typical issues are a failed drive or a power supply that isn’t connected.

Let us know if you have any additional questions.

Is there a VNXe 3200 cabled to them currently or in the past that was disconnected? If there is can you check the VNX for errors?

I have googled the error and VNX system is the only one that reports this error, what does your knowledge base say about?

platform::check_for_enclosure_faults_2.

The error exists on VNX but that isn't the only platform the error exists on. In that link the problem was a failed battery in an SP.

platform::check_for_enclosure_faults_2. Means that there is an error that is preventing the upgrade it doesn't have anything to do with VNX. The devices need to be in healthy states to do the upgrade.

Please take a screenshot of the system health page from Unisphere. Alternatively you can get the service data https://dell.to/3VjvwdI

You may also want to call phone support and have them remote in and take a look.

Can you post a screenshot of where it is saying that it is from a VNXe?

Hi Josh

There has never been a VNX system related to this two Unity systems, that's why its a BUG in the Unity operating system and blocking me from updating two systems.

Hi Mr Josh

Attached is all the screen shots of the EMC system, all ok but Health gives that error.

Replication is paused from the Production  EMC.

platform::check_for_enclosure_faults_2 what does this error mean that system health check fails on?

Can try running the health check and see if it shows what it is failing on. https://dell.to/3p39ShJ You may need to call phone support so they can have it skip the health check during the upgrade.

Sorry, I am not able to share the command. It is Dell confidential information.

check_for_enclosure_faults_2.

THE SP board is FAULTY, replace the mainboard and your problem is solved. This is for anybody out there that cannot solve the problem! I did the upgrade to 5.2 Unity without any problems!

Next time you can call phone support as your only option.
