Data Store not showed up in ESXI Hosts.

Hi All,

Hope you all doing great!

Actually We have a unity 380xt (DPE and DAE) connected to 3 dell server R640 (ESXI host) using ISCSI.

The problem is when i shutdown the unity (DPE first from webinterface , secondly detach the DAE,and shutdown ESXI host) when i power on the unity (dpe & dae) and esxi host the datastores (as LUN configured in untiy) not showed up automatically.

Thanks in advance.

Hello Asta,

What you want to do is to make sure that all host are powered down prior to powering down your unity system.

When it comes to power up you want to power on your unity system first then wait about 10 minutes and then power on your host and they should reconnect without any issue.

Hi Sam,

First I want to thank you for your reply.

Actually I power up the dae and dpe, I didn't wait for 10 minutes to power up the host.

Hello Asta,

When you reconnected everything and powered it on did you power up your unity system and wait 10 minutes before powering on your hosts?  Here is a link to a kb that has the proper power up and power down procedures. https://dell.to/3oiT9US

Hi Sam,

Hope you are doing well.

Actually i'm so confused for how to do this in the article that you shared

<<i

t is recommended that you disconnect all network shares, LUNs, and VMware datastores from each host to prevent data loss(Disconnect from host mean esxi or the unity how can i do it?). When the system is fully powered up, you can reconnect the hosts to these storage resources.

So could you please clarify more how to do this please?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Asta
