Venus? Venue?
Hi All ..
I bought what was sold to me as a Venue 8 Pro, however on the back it says Venus not Venue. What is the difference and why can't I find any product information on Venus ?

Sounds like its a knock off.
See if there is a service tag on the package and check it on the dell website.

Service tag number should be on the box near the bar codes.
Alternatively , you can open up Dell Support Assistant app (that should be pre installed) and it should show the service tag number there.
or.. go t odell support website, select Support->Warranty Information. You'll be shown a button to detect automatically. If its a genuine Dell, it should recognize the product and show you the service tag number

Please locate the Service Tag Number, and send it to me via Private Message. I'll be glad to look it up for you.
Regards,
Robert

Yes that's exactly what I thought too.. but then if you Search this forum on Venus 8 Pro, there are several posts referencing it. That's when I got confused. ..
So I wanted to check it out with Dell before I went back to the merchant. (Which btw is a large reputable chain, Canada Computers) ..Here ... take a look http://imageshack.com/a/img540/5922/SH7HL2.jpg

Because there is no such thing as a Dell Venus 8 Pro sold by Dell--were you sold a look-alike product?

Ok thanks...
Did all that and everything checks out ok. I still need to take it in because it gets super hot. Like really really really hot.
But I wanted to make sure I actually had a legit device before I went in. No idea why the label says Venus, and also as I mentioned, there are other posts on the forum that reference Venus as well. Strange.
Ok thanks for your help.

Anytime. Let us know if that product is genuine after talking to the support. I'm really curious to find out more about this venus line.

Anther way to find the tablet serial number, from the tablet itself:
Open a DOS command prompt and enter, followed by the enter key:
wmic bios get serial number
That should result in the device serial number being shown.
All very curious--could this just be a typo by Dell? It still sounds like a somewhat typical knock-off situation. Do let us know the result--

Did some idiot not proofread the labels after they were printed "Venus" instead of "Venue" ??
:emotion-2: :emotion-2:
I pinged my Dell Tech contacts for feedback...

Thanks for checking that out Robert!
For all others following this thread: It's a discontinued model with a typo in the label.
I'll get the heat issue taken care of.
Thanks again.!! Great community!!
