Venue Pro 8 WiFi problem

running windows 10. WiFi has worked perfectly for over a year since I bought the tablet. however, after two windows updates on 23 October, I have serious problems. firstly, no router signals detected and the button says not available. secondly, after uninstalling the updates, the routers are shown and I can connect but it shows as limited and no internet. when I reinstall the updates, the not available notification shows again. anyone else seen this problem? better still, anyone know how to solve it? I have tried all the usual fixes such as reinstalling the WiFi adapter and using ipconfig flushdns and renew commands.

the updates are kb3105216 and kb2267602.

many thanks

I believe this to be a Windows 10 compatibility issue with the tablet as my Venue 8 Pro seemed to have decent WiFi performance on 8.1. Unfortunately, the tablet didn't work well, at times would not complete updates, would not respond to commands, froze up, and would not complete the update to Windows 10. Motherboard was replaced at the depot and this seemed to fix most of my problems, completed the update to Windows 10, but the WiFi then became an issue. I know the 10 OS is new and bugs need to be worked out but my Dell laptop works fine and WiFi is not an issue with it. The Venue 8 Pro is a great concept, but just can't be relied on to work well.

I did read that a USB install of Windows 10 turned at least one poster's V8 into a better, more reliable device. When I get mine back from the depot for the second time, that's what I'm doing.

You should make sure that your router has the latest firmware so Dell can't say that's the problem. Hope you're still under warranty. Good luck.

thanks, trailtrekker. would appreciate comments from dell on this. is the venue 8 pro compatible with windows 10 or not, as trailtrekker suggests? do I need to go back to windows 8.1 to fix my WiFi problem?

@Flute: Everything I've read says the V8P is compatible with Windows 10. I have a 3000 series and it requires the 32-Bit Windows 10 option so check which tablet you've got. Except for the Wif issue, the tablet actually ran much better on 10 than 8.1 but the new motherboard might (I really don't think so) have been the cause of my issues.

Bear in mind that you need a micro sd card to give yourself enough memory to complete the update to 10 over WiFi. From what I have read in these threads (and a comment from one Dell tech), the best way to update from 8.1 to 10 is by going into the Microsoft site and, using a USB, creating an update drive for which you'll need an OTG adapter to hook the USB to the V8P.

Dell seems to be sorely lacking the expertise and constructive positive advice to make this tablet work. Frankly, with all the problems people have had with this 32-Bit V8P I can't help but think the product is just defective and Dell won't admit it and take some responsibility.

re comments, above, will dell please comment on whether the venue tablet is inherently defective or not..

@Flute: LOL, Dell will never admit this product is defective. I've had many different tech products over the years. I've owned a lot of laptops as I program home automation and have installed a wide variety of technology during this time. A laptop is a work tool for me. Except my original (brand C) that I sold, I still have them (9) and they still work to varying degrees.

I can absolutely state that the V8P is the worse piece of technology that I have ever owned and the inadequate responses from Dell, as I've tried to get this to work, is the worse customer service I ever had!

Dell doesn't seem to have much of a presence in these forums.
