Venue 8 Pro YouTube Issue

I've been running Windows 10 on my Venue 5830 Pro for just over six months now and haven't experienced any serious issues. A problem developed a few days ago involving YouTube that has me quite perplexed.

When I go to full screen mode by selecting the full screen icon in the bottom corner of the video player, the video switches to full screen but with an upside down orientation. I have the screen orientation set to landscape and the rotation lock set to On. Now, if I turn the rotation lock to Off and manually hold the device in another position, the screen remains locked – but only when playing a video.

Oddly, I don't experience this issue when watching YouTube in Microsoft Edge or Internet Explorer but Google Chrome is the browser I prefer to use. The only recent software update to the device was for the latest version of Chrome so this is likely the culprit.

I'm curious to know if anyone else is experiencing this issue.

Thanks!

UPDATE: This is a problem with Chrome version 57.0.2987.110.

A workaround you may consider involves temporarily disabling the HID sensors in Device Manager until Google provides an update. The downside to this is that the screen will no longer automatically rotate as you turn the device to change its orientation. You can manually change the orientation with the Settings app or the keyboard.

From landscape to portrait: Ctrl AltUp Arrow

From portrait to landscape: Ctrl Alt + Right Arrow

Hi Dr. Gregory House,

Thanks for posting.

Be sure you've upgraded your drivers, and have the latest chipset driver installed. Some users have reported success with updating the chipset driver.
