Venue 8 pro will not power up after windows update
i restarted my venue 8 pro last night to install windows updates. it was plugged, got to about 30 % on the shut down and then the screen went blank. you could tell the screen was on but there was no picture on it and it stayed that way all night and into the next morning when i woke up. i threw it in my bag to mess with at work and it was still unresponsive. when i pulled it out 7-8 hour later it was finally shut down. most likely because the battery died. now it will not boot back up. even when plugged in & charging?

I did try that without success. However when i got home i used the factory provided charger that was plugged into a wall, rather than a USB and was successfully able to charge and power up the system. still, not sure why i had the original issues but once it powered up it completed the windows update and has been running fine since. So the lesson leaned is use the factory provided charger plugged into a wall outlet. Using any old micro USB plugged into a USB port may not work.

Did you try holding the power button down for about 30 seconds?

A usb port does not supply enough current to charge the tablet. Also, the data lines on the usb connection must be shorted together at the start of charging.
The supplied charger supplies the needed 2 Amps of current, and short. the data lines.
