Venue 7 3730 stuck on logo at boot up

My Venue 7 no longer boots up. It gets stuck showing the Del logo. This tablet is just over 2 years old, so not in warranty, but I expected a little more life out of this Dell device.  It's a Dell, not a K-mart special.  Doing some research, the software probably needs to be flashed. The Youtube videos are hard to understand and way too complicated.  I can use it as a drink coaster or a large paperweight, but if anyone can provide a suggestion on how to fix it, I would appreciate it.

SamShade,

I found a post from another forum user. The post stated...

Venue 7 (3730) or Venue 8 (3830) tablet may become unresponsive during Android 4.4.2 (KitKat) operating system upgrade

Dell has received reports of Venue 7 (3730) or Venue 8 (3830) tablets locking up during the Android 4.4.2 (KitKat) operating system upgrade.

Recovery steps

NOTE: Anytime you attempt an operating system upgrade, ensure that the system battery has at least an 80% charge.

Follow these steps to recover your system:

  1. Press and hold the power button until the tablet completely powers off
  2. With AC power connected to the tablet, Press Volume Down and the Power Button (Volume Down + Power) at the same time.
  3. Select RECOVERY
  4. When you see the Android Robot Icon, Press Volume Up and the Power Key (Volume up + Power) at the same time
  5. Select "Wipe Data/Factory Reset" then select "Yes - Delete all user data to factory reset"
  6. After factory reset completes, select "reboot system now" to reboot system.

System should recover and boot into the current update version of Android OS.

If the tablet fails to recover, contact Dell technical support for service on the tablet.

Thanks, Rick.  Unfortunately, I can't get past the second step.  I've tried many times to hold the two buttons down at the same time but I don't get the Recovery option. Maybe it's the motherboard.  If so, I'll switch to Samsung or a Kindle for my next tablet.

SamShade,

See if you can drain the battery completely dead, then recharge the system. Then see if you can get pst the second step.

Nope, tried it several times.  Either it turns on or off.  No menu or recovery option.  I didn't spend much, if anything, but I expected it to last more than a couple of years of light use.

SamShade,

Not sure what to do next. I know my wife took the Venue 3830 from my grandson and it was not plugged in for a very long time. Took a while to charge but it then came on.

I thought to get the menu, zi pressed the voulme down button and pressed the power on button. That brought up the options for boot and recovery.

how about flash a new ROM to the device?

P.S. there is an app called Dr.Fone that can solve all kinds of system issues for Android devices. Here is a reference for recovery. Hope this helps.
