Venue 11 Pro (7139) when in desktop dock (K10A001) has incredibly shaky wired networking.
I've finally gotten my 8GB/256GB i5 Venue 11 Pro, gotten it hooked up to two external screens, etc. Most of the issues I had with my "try & buy" model with lower-end specs are gone with this new one. Save for one...
Wired networking is an absolute nightmare.
I'm in an Active Directory domain environment and I need access to shared drives, remote desktop access to servers, internal SQL servers, source control, etc. and I've had to resort to using our company WiFi (very slow) with a software VPN because I cannot establish a reliable connection to the wired network.
I took the CAT6 cable directly from my workstation and connected it directly to the dock of my Venue and IF it establishes a connection, it's VERY slow to the point of being unusable. My workstation had no special settings save for a static IP, which is for the sake of convenience (I have certain firewall restrictions lifted based on my IP) I've tried with DHCP and static IP to no avail. I've tried my old IP, new IPs, etc. Same deal. I even tried disabling IPv6 (we had a batch of Dell Optiplexes last year that for some reason would not operate with it enabled) which again did nothing.
If I use DHCP, the Venue pulls an IP, but NOT UNTIL I unplug the power from the dock and plug it back in (which can at times lead to me losing my display configuration, yay!) When I do that, I get network connectivity, but only maybe for two or three minutes then I'm back to exclamation city.
When I check my Network and Sharing Center, I see a bunch of virtual NICs, one of which is my software VPN, one named "Ethernet 2" which I see is a USB2.0 to Fast Ethernet adapter, a vEthernet ASIX virtual adapter (this is the one where I can set a static IP, etc), something called "Network Bridge" and my Wireless adapter. Not sure if I should be changing settings in one of these other adapters. I can't set IPv4 settings in the "Ethernet 2" adapter, because I'm assuming it's some kind of virtual appliance for the dock(?)
Any ideas? is anyone else having issues like this?
