Problem with taking an image of a Venue 11
Hi, I am trying to take an image of my Venue 11 using Macrium Reflect. I have successfully made a bootable usb to boot into Macrium. Every time I try to take an image of the various partitions it always fails on the OS partition. the other partitions are imaged fine. The error I get is:
"Backup aborted - Volume Bitmap is NULL"
OR
"Error making volume bitmap
Error Code = 1
Please run "chkdsk E: /F"
Even after running chkdsk I am still receiving this message. I have also tried disabling Windows Defender and Windows Firewall but I am still receiving the above error. If I omit the OS drive and leave the other partitions ticked the image is made successfully. I have tried imaging another Venue 11 and get the same error message. It's as if something is locking the OS partition and stopping me from pulling an image from it. Any advice appreciated.

I have now resolved this. I needed to activate Bitlocker before I could take an image of the OS partition. I activated it but left it turned off. The next time I tried to perform an image backup it worked!

I would also like to add that the C drive on the tablet has an icon of a unlocked padlock with a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark in it. Not sue what this means? When I run error checking on the C drive it says that "no errors were found". Not sure if this has anything to do with Macrium not being able to image the C drive partition?

Hi DAGK , can I ask please, with the bootable USB you created, can you navigate around it using the tablets touchscreen interface, or do you have one of the Dell docking keyboards attached when booting into the rescue USB.
Also, what environment is your USB boot device recovery OS created by the Macrium software, is it Windows PE, or a Linux OS?
Is there a reason why you didn't use the Dell Backup & recovery software?
