New DV11P with lots of software problems out of the box.

My new Venue 11 Pro arrived today. It seems like a nice tablet, but I'm running into all sorts of software problems with this thing.

* Pen issues.
Using the same pen with my DV8P and DV11P and it works okay-ish on the DV8P. On the DV11P I get more trailing lines between characters and the top button doesn't erase in OneNote like it does on the DV8P (selects instead). Pen is mostly unusable on the DV11P so far.

* Wireless non-functional after reboots.
Sometimes after I reboot the wifi in device manager is non-functional. If I reboot again it starts working again. My DV8P actually does the same thing, so I guess it's something that runs in the family.

* Driver update problems.
I run the My Dell tool and tap on driver updates. This takes me to a website. Earlier with my DV8P it would take my straight to the drivers page for my tablet. Recently however this stopped working on my DV8P and isn't working on the DV11P either. It takes me to the support page and asks me to enter my service tag. If I type it in and click submit, nothing happens. I have to scroll down and select Tablet and choose my model (the manual way) and then go to Drivers. This process is awkward. Not sure why the website stopped working. I tried it on my desktop too and it won't let me enter a service tag there either.

* Can't update Touch Controller firmware.
I downloaded the Synaptics Touch Controller firmware update. Surprised this hasn't been updated since December 5th on the DV11P. I tried to install it and it tells me "Unable to locate a Synaptics Touch Controller..." *sigh*

* Poor touch sensitivity.
The touch screen isn't registering a lot of touch inputs. I've been using tablets for years, so it's not a user error issue. And sometimes it seems very slow at registering a response.

I ended up doing a full factory reset of Windows and was able to install the firmware update and other updates after that successfully. Though the support.dell.com website still failed to detect my tablet or allow me to put in a service tag number.

Unfortunately I still had problems with touch and pen input. I still got lots of double registers when touching a screen (typing on screen would cause characters to get repeated often). Pen behavior much worse on the DV11P than on my DV8P.

I could live without the pen, I knew that was a potential issue before buying (though it is working okay on my DV8P now). The weird issues with touch input were a much greater problem though. So I've already returned the tablet.

Make sure you are undocked from any keyboard and try the firmware update in this order: http://www.dell.com/support/troubleshooting/us/en/04/kcs/kcsarticles/articleview?docid=645031

Hope this helps!  I'm still trying to figure out why my DV11Pro (7130, core i3, Win8.1Pro, 128GB, 4gb RAM) reboots almost every night while sleeping due to a BSOD. "Sigh" is right.  Watch your timeframe...I believe it's a 30 day window for returning with full refund...
