My Chromebook 11 wont update

My Chromebook 11 wont update no matter what, i've followed several tutorials on how which all said Chrome OS but it always says im up to date at version 76, this prevents me from using the laptop and doing anything i want or need to on it. My dad got this for me a few years ago on christmas, but i can hardly do anything on it that i want to do.
