Microsoft Office for Dell Venue 8 Android Tablet?
I'm looking to buy an Android tablet, and am interested in the Dell Venue 8 32gb tablet. My only problem is, I can't find if it comes with Microsoft Office? If not, can it be installed. If not, does anyone know of any Android tablets that can be used with Microsoft Offices. Android is a must though. Thanks!

Presently Office for Android is only available for devices with Arm chips. All Dell Venue tablets run on Intel hardware. An Intel version is said to be in the pipeline.

Not Dell's fault. Microsoft made the call to skip Intel chips.

Office is not compatible, probably because the Dell employes Intel CPUs.

I own a Dell Venue 8. I purchased Office 365 and when I try to load the office apps, it says device is not compatible. I called Microsoft and they had no clue. Told me to call Dell. I called Dell, and they said call Microsoft. Since this is a family show, I'll reserve my real feelings about Microsoft and Dell! So, at this point, I'm saying Office is NOT compatible with Dell Android tablets.

Thanks for the info, Pawdog. This is really a big oversight on Dell's part. It's not like MS Office is some obscure software. Michael Dell, you were supposed to be energizing Dell upon your return. Things like this issue make me wonder!

Office for Android is created by Microsoft. At the Microsoft Store, it states that
Office 365 Home
(5 PCs or Macs
5 tablets including
iPad,
Android, or
Windows
5 phones )
Office 365 Personal
(1 PC or Mac
1 tablet including iPad,
Android, or
Windows
1 phone )
Office 365 plans (Office 365 Home and Office 365 Personal) are compatible only with Windows 7 or later, and Mac OS X 10.6 or later. Office Home & Student 2013, Office Home & Business 2013, and Office Professional 2013 are compatible only with Windows 7 or later. You can install on Windows tablets running Windows 8 or higher, Android tablets running KitKat 4.4, and on iPads running iOS 7.0 or higher.

Right again, Pawdog. After clicking through several pages on the Microsoft store site, I finally came upon this: "Android: Office for Android™ tablet can be installed on tablets running Android KitKat 4.4 with a minimum screen size of 7 inches and an ARM-based processor." Technically, I guess MS is off the hook. But I don't think I'm alone in not drilling down 4 or 5 pages to get to this fine print. So, Dell is back in my favor and Microsoft is in the Dog House!
