Glue from corner of refurbished unit

A few months ago one of my Dell Latitude 10 ST-2 tablets (I have two, both refurbished from Dell authorized centers, both now out of warranty) began to develop some shadow/blot on the corner of the screen that has been slowly growing ever since. I've never seen anything like that, thought it was maybe moisture and just put it aside for a while.

I picked it up again today, the shadow on the screen is still growing but I first noticed something that looks like silicon glue coming out from the seam. Now I wonder if this is what is also spreading under the glass?

Is using glue acceptable when refurbishing a unit?

At first I thought the glue was added by the refurbisher to hold some parts in place, but now I realized it may be have been used to hold the glass screen down and as such be part of the standard manufacturing process. Any insight?

I tore the tablet down, I think the glue was used to keep the rubber frame and glass screen together as part of the standard manufacturing process. The LCD screen cannot be accessed or replaced, at least with standard tools. I was only able to harvest some parts.
